A Brief overview of the 100km Course
The WAI2K 100km Course Starts at the Tauherenikau race course. Runners head up the river for 5km before heading onto Underhill road. You then follow Bucks road around to the camp site and first Aid Station area. Stock up here as you have around 14km until the next Aid Station.
Frith track is tough. You follow this until you hit Pylon track where you follow this over to Kaitoke and the next Aid Station.
From here there is a private land section before you head up Norbett Creek loop track - a tough climb before a steep technical downhill to Rivendell area.
Another Aid Station here before you follow Swingbridge loop track around and then you hit Kaitoke Ridge track. This trail is steep and takes you along the ridge line until you get to Te Marua Aid Station.
A short road section before you take forestry trails towards the underpass of SH2 which takes you to Station Drive.
Once here, you hit a 'T' intersection where you now follow straight through along Goat Rock track until you hit the incline trail.
Follow this all of the way down to Cross creek, taking in the Summit, tunnels and swing bridge along the way. Once at the Cross Creek Aid Station, turn around and follow the same trails back until just past the Summit. You take a right and follow Back road around until it takes you back to the incline trail.
Now you simply follow the trail back to the 'T' intersection, hang a left and carry on until you can see the finish line area.
You run past the finish line area, and follow the Maymorn tunnel around the 5km circuit which takes you up to Mt Climie. Now you climb! Once you are at the top, you turn around here once you cross the mat and are checked off by the marshal. Now it's time for the downhill for 6km to the finish line.
